Functional proteins (Introduction)

Strings of amino acids 100 or more long, must fold exactly correctly to be functional. This research is looking into the process, but thre is a chicken and egg problem, not addressed. How does a protein string know the correct shape in advance? As the article points out, trying every combination would take longer than the universe is old, a fact known for many years. Does the string have prior information, or is it designed, the only two other alternatives?-http://phys.org/news/2014-08-eons-seconds-proteins-exploit.html
