Science works? Really? (Introduction)

A Guardian atheist article says science explains all. Really?-"As a humble humanities graduate, I try to keep abreast of developments in the world of physics. I do not always succeed, but if given sufficient attention science offers a deeply satisfying model for how we got to be here. As for why we are here, without religion we have the freedom to determine our own fate and to find our own purpose. Initial scepticism about God, often during early childhood, is consolidated later by the superior explanatory power of modern science. Science works."-http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/feb/12/religion-atheism-britons-god-We suspect a Big Bang happened. Science doesn't know why. Science can't explain the origin of life. The Anthropic Principal is celebrated, but it is a tautology. Yes, science really works.
