Natural selection is not active as Krauss implies. It is a passive recipient of what new forms are presented to it and then it acts as a judge for survival. The active part of evolution is the search among trillions of potential molecules to find new proteins to perform the new functions. That is Metaxis prime point. It is very clear.-I did not read as Kraus saying that.-For me is natural selection is the interaction of the environment with molecules that can replicate. Certain combinations of molecules and environment are more conducive to replication than others. Variation during the replication process due to cause and effect has lead to increasing complexity of these molecules that replicate and ultimately has lead to what we describe as life.
