DAVID: I'm simply following Adler.-dhw: I've never known you to “simply follow” without thinking things through for yourself! If you agree that “proving beyond a reasonable doubt” is not an expression applicable to such a subjective judgement as belief in God, then be brave: stand up to “one of the great philosophers of the 20th century”!-DAVID: Why should I? I've researched for 40 years. The evidence is very clear to me, although I cannot give you an absolute proof, which is impossible, unless God communicates directly with me. Then no one will believe my assertion that He did, unless they observe the event, as in Gospel stories.-It was actually Romansh who started this off under “Scientific proof doesn't exist”, which “is why I bring you to task when you talk about proof.” For a change, I agreed with him. But he's now left us to it, while he freely exercises his unfree will to tread and retread other well-trodden paths. Meanwhile, however, you have recognized that “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” depends purely on your subjective interpretation of what is and is not reasonable, so I'm sure the jury will sympathize with you and will not even ask for a suspended sentence.
