DAVID TURELL AT 90 (General)

dhw: Those of you who follow this website will know that for years David and I have fought like cat and dog over most of the subjects we tackle. What you won’t know is that over the years we have also become the firmest of friends. So much so that some years ago he asked me to edit his brilliant book The Atheist Delusion, and when my wife died just over 5 years ago, he and his wife flew to England to attend her funeral.

Today, this remarkable man celebrates his 90th birthday, and still with undiminished zeal he is keeping us all up to date with the latest research, single-handedly endowing the AgnosticWeb with an educational role which I for one find invaluable.

It seems to me that this is an appropriate moment for the agnostic to raise his glass to the theist, to wish him many more birthdays, and to thank him for all the years of discussion, disagreement, enlightenment, digging and delving into mysteries that none of us can ever solve. That, of course, is why they are so fascinating, but it has been a privilege to pursue the quest with David, and I hope we will go on catting and dogging for many years to come.
