DAVID: Your twisted thinking is beyond belief. My imagined possible previous BB's do not refute Guth's only point, our time started with our BB.

dhw: Of course OUR time started with OUR BB. But that is not what you wrote. Read it again:

dhw: According to this statement, there was only one BB, nothing before it, and therefore no time before it. But you believe your God created our BB and may well have created others before it. And so Guth & Co have not, in your eyes, proven that there was no before and no time before our BB. “Your twisted thinking is beyond belief.”

DAVID: your usual twisting of statements. The bolds were written years ago, when I did not consider the possibility of previous BB's.

dhw: So you swallowed Guth’s so-called proof, and only now have you become aware of something you (and presumably he) hadn’t thought of – prior BBs. Therefore you should now agree that he did NOT prove that there was nothing/no time before our BB.

DAVID: The bolds mean time started with our BB and our BB came from nothing but God. Our discussions now have nothing to do with the 17-year-old sentences.

dhw: The bolds are the sentences you quoted two months ago, and you said Guth had proved there was no before our BB and time did not exist. Our discussions are based entirely on the quote and your agreement with it! Now you realize at last that you disagree with it (because you and he hadn’t thought of previous BBs). And yet you accuse me of twisting!

New thoughts don't negate old sentences. we are now discussing an imagined set of previous BB's, each of which contained its own type of time. Guth's only point is unchanged. I can alter it to fit the current constant confusion on your part. Guth's says our time started with our BB and prior to our time time did not exist. We can now expand that to mean in the interval from the last BB to our BB no time existed. Fits your illogical complaint about Guth, who is not privy to our imagined series of BB's.
