I really and truly never even meant to get into a debate over Noah, but have problem with limiting it to this thread. I am more interested in the fact that the geological mechanisms to cause such a cataclysm are, in fact, real.

According to his reply, a meteor strike of sufficient force could in fact cause a chain reaction that would be comparable. This is mainly due to the shock waves from such an impact propagating through the crust and mantle. As the wave moved deeper into the planet, the increased pressure and temperature could cause the mantle to fracture, releasing the trapped fluids, which could then be expelled via sub-sea vents and volcanic activity.

They are rare enough without ruining the few gems I stumble across.-Don't worry about it. I found this site while getting ready to launch my own agnostics website, and stayed because (not only will they put up with me), but I've learned so much by the discussions here. I can only speak for myself, but when it comes to this kind of thing I live for conflict; as much as it can humble, the discovery of error in my thinking means I'm growing. I was actually going to make sure there was no hard feelings on your end; when I'm on the warpath I get aggressive.
