Atheist megachurches? (reply)

DAVID: Is the next step agnostic megachurches?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/10/atheist-mega-church_n_4252360.html&am...
QUOTE: "On Sunday, the inaugural Sunday Assembly in Los Angeles attracted more than 400 attendees, all bound by their belief in non-belief. Similar gatherings in San Diego, Nashville, New York and other U.S. cities have drawn hundreds of atheists seeking the camaraderie of a congregation without religion or ritual."-I should imagine there will be plenty of agnostics in the congregation. The principles being “preached” there are apparently humanist, and "they don't bash believers". So long as they stick to these positive ideas and refrain from the divisiveness that marks the hostility between different religions, this can only be a force for good. Camaraderie is the same as community spirit, and it can not only be a force for good within the congregation itself, but it can also extend - as religious institutions do - to charitable works for the rest of the community. It's a brilliant idea, so let's hope it will mushroom but will stay clear of the fundamentalism that has given both atheism and religion such a bad name.
