Quantum Mechanics... Why Prime Numbers? (reply)

Yes, just as it took someone very big and powerful to drive the sun 'round beneath the earth every night.

A politician once told me God hides behind the quantum level of reality.
>
> As he previously hid behind the sun, and much later inside the cells of our bodies. How small, distant and abstract will he have to make himself next? ;)-Quantum reality underlies the entire universe. Makes it very big, not small!

Quantum Mechanics... Why Prime Numbers? (reply)

While not a mathematician per se, I obviously am immersed in a mathematical world on a daily basis. Just some cannon fodder for your constant gibes about me not liking to use statistics based off of incomplete data sets! -Smile on. There are a large number of scientists who clearly know statistics who will use incomplete sets. I've read a bunch and the 'trends' of their results always support my contentions.-Quantum theory is the basis of our reality. Prime numbers don't surprise me. A politician once told me God hides behind the quantum level of reality.

Quantum Mechanics... Why Prime Numbers?

In reading the biography of Freeman Dyson, I'm presented with a VERY famous quantum physicist who had a stunning contribution in that he made the discovery that the Riemann-Zeta function was nearly identical to some experimental data gathered from quantum physics. -This article discusses the entire process.-My studies into cryptography are what introduced me to the Riemann-Zeta function. -The question begging to be ask, "Why prime numbers?" This gives tantalizing ideas to those looking for design in the universe. The question must be, of all numbers, why are primes so significant to quantum theory? To nature? -Finally, a point for David: Please note the quote from the seedmagazine article, "...mathematicians are very suspicious of statistics. We like things to be exact."
While not a mathematician per se, I obviously am immersed in a mathematical world on a daily basis. Just some cannon fodder for your constant gibes about me not liking to use statistics based off of incomplete data sets!
