You are correct. The opinion that all 10 commandments are the basis of US law is wrong. And Hebrew misinterpretation is part of the issue. Number six is exactly, 'thou shalt not murder'. Therefore, a society can kill for the good of society. The death penalty is a reasonable punishment, but is excluded in many part of the US.

I disagree with this part, but only because I don't believe death should be warranted without incontrovertible evidence and a confession. The chance of putting an innocent man to death is more abhorrent to me than letting a killer live.

I agree. Incontrovertable evidence, but not a confession. Confessions can be coerced.

Allow the convicted the ability to recant his confession. Problem solved.

I think He planned in advance, as noted before. And by the way, I was at Wal*Mart today. The stores are alive and kicking!

It seems to me that all he is saying is that the first four commandments
are not part of US Law.

Have no god before me (cancels the First Amendment)
Make no graven images (puts Hollywood out of business)
No blaspheming (Jesus Christ!)
Observe the sabbath (puts Wallmart out of business, if it's still in business)

Find God by my \"third way\"

Early in my presence here I described the way I look at finding God. I don't use religion and I don't use science to debunk religion: this bit from Larry Moran, Sandwalk.com shows why. I think his comments are correct, but all his atheist conclusions are wrong.
