The theists are celebrating as if Sir David had joined them, which he hasn't, and the headline shouts out from the rooftops that "belief in God is not incompatible with religion", which it never has been. One of the first, if not THE first to make that explicit was a certain Charles Darwin (himself an agnostic), who wrote in a fairly well known book on the subject, "I see no good reason why the views given in this book should shock the religious feelings of anyone."
